Will Obama and Clinton supporters grow up before the GE?

This will be a short diary. I am frankly over the primaries. Whoever wins, I will support.

What I do have a problem with going forward are the supporters. Do you think for one moment that you will not need each other in the general election? If you do, you are delusional. I don't care who you support. Clinton will need Obama. Obama will need Clinton. What we don't need is the immaturity that passes for commentary to spill over into the general.

Who wins if this vitriol spills over into the general? That's an easy one- John McCain and the Republican Party. Who loses? Again- an easy one- the Democrats and the American people.

You can still think your candidate is better for the general. Hell, I still believe Edwards is the best choice, and he's not in the race.

What you can't do, and what I find destructive, is to turn this into caged death match. I've asked this before- but I have to ask again, is this about progressive values for some of you or is it about a sporting event in which you are cheering for your favorite team?

If it's about the later, your behavior makes sense. If it's about the values, how are you serving them with your behavior? I know some of you believe Clinton is evil, but if you think she is worse than McCain, you need to put down the bong and take gander at the GOP race. Look at what Mr. 100 years war is saying. 2013 maybe bad, but it ain't 100 years. If you think Clinton is bad, look at the S Ct., if you can't see what a Democratic appointee means versus a Republican one- you again haven't been paying much attention. I can go on, but I want to flip this.

The same is true of the Clinton supporters. There is no way in hell, however green you think Obama is that he isn't 10 times better than John "Mr 100 Years" McCain. There is simply no way you could believe that and hold anything resembling progressive values. Again, if yo udon't then, this will fall on deaf ears.

Save the vitriol for McCain. He's the one who deserves it.

Hey i am a clinton supporter and I don't see Mccain the way you portray him.
But I like the sentiment.

Whatever McCain is personally, my feelings are that he will be used to revive the present version of the GOP. I don't even believe he means what he says about 100 years. BUT, I don't care. I don't want any of those forces to remain in power. I hope that other Democrats get that this is a chance to put a stake through the heart of the Reagan revolution, salt the earth, and make sure it doesn't come back again.

I've ALWAYS maintained I would vote for the Democratic ticket.

The most I've ever hedged was that, if Clinton won the nomination - I'd probably spend my time and meager campaign contributions on downticket races.

Considering I live in Illinois - it's likely that's a wiser move even with Obama top the ticket... I suspect he'll have little problem carrying Illinois :-)

We will not vote for Obama in GE. I will vote for McCain if Hillary is not a nominee, because we do not need a Cult Leader in White house.
And for the record, I am first to notice the first Obama achievement ever: he managed to divide the Democratic Party!

FWIW, I know plenty of Hillary supporters who flip to McCain...they're almost entirely over 50 and see Obama as some over ambitious child.

Not happy about it, but i'm counting on my generation to rise up against the failing generation before us.

it's about them. doesn't matter what hillary does. fortunately, the difference between barack and hillary is that barack can attract new voters to make up for the pretend democrats that swing over to mccain. add that to the broader appeal that barack has to independents and swing voters and you have a stronger democratic nominee. finally, we won't have to be burdened with the historic highs in her negatives, negatives never seen by a non-incumbent at this time in the election cycle:

If for every Democrat he loses, he gains an independent, it still means he wont have a mandate to govern if he gets elected.

And those "new" voters will be the first to turn away from him if he f*cks things up. I know at least two independents (one a Republican voter) who voted for him the primary. The Rep. campaigned for him in Louisiana.

Michelle's gaffe has turned them away from him and now they don't know what they're going to do, but are leaning toward McCain.

Did you like google and find this site and then decided to post whatever whacho shit you could think up with regard to any connection to what a diary actually says. I told this Clinton supporter, and Obama supporter that today- this is the chief issue. There are a lot of crazy people online who "discovered' politics, but not reality. for the record, I don't think clinton should drop out, I think she still has a strong chance of winning, and I don't think Obama will necessarily lose. I think both have strengths and weaknesses in the general. All of which Is aid in the diary that you obviously didn't bother to read before posting your crazy. I absolutely don't have a dog in this race, and I am seriously starting to think some of you are Republican plants because your say shit that has nothing to do with whats said other than to stir up flame wars.
